Between 16 and 22 January, over 100 MT of UNICEF freight to Haiti (43% of the total) was donated by partners

Over the weekend programme colleagues placed orders based on needs of the affected population in Haiti for the next 180 days. Orders included Hygiene kits, nutrition kits, Early Childhood Development Kits, School-in-a box and recreation kits, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, other water and sanitation items, tents and nutrition items. These will be sent via air and ship in coming weeks, and from suppliers in the region where possible.

Flights:

Tuesday 16/02/2010 - Commercial Flight carrying 690,000 doses (1900 kgs) of DTP (Diphtheria,Tetanus and Pertussis) vaccines left Mumbai and is expected to arrive in Santo Domingo on 18/2/10.

Thursday 18/02/2010 - Commercial Flight carrying 649, 000 doses (2240 kgs) of Measles Rubella vaccines left Mumbai and is expected to arrive in Santo Domingo on 20/02/10.

  1. hygiene kits are a great idea. The people need to be able to take care of themselves and fight off diseases.
